Dr. Yasmine N. Campbell has been a Registered Nurse and Nurse Anesthetist of Caribbean descent for over 25 years in South Florida. She furthered her studies at the University of South Florida with a Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education in 2022. Dr. Campbell is a two-time graduate of Barry University, earning a DNP in 2015 and a Master in Anesthesia in 2006, a BSN in 2002 from Florida Atlantic University, and ASN at Broward Community College in 1998. Her passion for education compelled her to complete the certified nurse educator and healthcare simulation educator certifications.
Dr. Campbell's phenomenon of interest centers on blood conservation strategies in the Jehovah's Witness population. The University of Miami Hospital implemented her culturally competent bloodless medicine consent, improving healthcare, and educating hospital staff, resulting in a peer-reviewed publication and nationally disseminated poster.
With over six years of aggregate teaching experience and leadership as former Lead CRNA at the University of Miami, Dr. Campbell serves on the Jamaica Diaspora Healthcare Taskforce, the education committee regionally for the Jamaica Nurses Association of South Florida, and nationally for the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. She is an item writer and mentor for the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists, and c/o chairs the Research Committee for the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthesiology.
Dr. Campbell transitioned to full-time faculty at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences Nurse Anesthesiology Department in 2019. Currently, she holds the position of Interim Assistant Chair of Academic Affairs in that department.
Regarding the impact of BC on her path, she says: "Broward College gave me the foundational nursing skills to be who I am today. My pediatric Mrs. Jessemy and obstetrics Mrs. Sandostatin on Central Campus believed in me and encouraged me to further my studies."
