Trisha had an established career track in sales, marketing, management, and accounting before coming to Broward College. She tells us in her own words about her path and the impact of her BC experience on her life.
"I graduated high school in 1980 in a small town in New Jersey. I decided to go to work right from high school to help my family financially. My dream was always to go to college and graduate. Eventually I moved to Florida for a new job, got married and have 3 beautiful children. My oldest son is getting his master’s degree at FSU and my youngest son and daughter both attend Broward College. When the pandemic started, my youngest son said to me that I should also go to Broward College. I researched the school and found the programs and classes were all very interesting for me, then I began my enrollment. As the pandemic did not show signs of slowing down, my classes were online, and this actually worked great for me. I continued working full time and found the flexibility of the online classes worked perfectly. My professors were all amazing especially Michelle Marshall, Carmen Inserra, Joanne Suarez and Krzysztof Brynuik. I felt so comfortable in a positive, fun and excellent learning environment. When I had questions, my interactions with the college members were always so positive, especially Renato Cortez, Associate Dean who was so helpful and encouraging when I felt enrolling for one of the Accounting Classes would be way over my head. But I succeeded and received a perfect 4.0, all A’s in every single one of my classes!!!
Walt Disney said, "If you can dream it, you can do it." Finally, on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Broward County Convention Center, my dream of graduating college came true. At 1 pm, with my husband and three children in the audience cheering me on, I was proud to say that I am a Broward College Graduate, Class of 2023!"
