Thara Jean

Alumna Thara Jean majored in Chemistry and earned and AA with Honors from Broward College 2018. While excelling academically, she was active in student organizations at BC and continued to pursue her passion for science with further studies at Florida International University. Thara is currently an AmeriCorps Member with City Year Miami where she is making a difference in the lives of younger students and contributing to their success.

About her connection to Broward College, Thara says: “I was originally a dual-enrolled student and once I graduated, I received a full-ride scholarship to BC which I am incredibly grateful to have received. I took part in my clubs and organizations within the school such as the Honors Student Committee, Science Club, Phi Theta Kappa, and more. I was able to be a part of various volunteering opportunities such as the Breast Cancer Walk, MLK Day of Service, and Earth Day. I was also able to participate in projects including the Butterfly Garden and helping build a weather station. I also had the opportunity to be a part of the Connect4Success program which allowed an admission to FIU where I successfully graduated in 2021 with my bachelor's in Chemistry and minor in Biology. Broward College has helped me grow a lot as a person and many of the skills I learned continue to be impactful in my life.”
